This page lists every cookie and stored value on this site, and what each one is for. It is short, and it is meant to be checked rather than taken on trust.

What we do not set

No advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. There is no Meta Pixel, no Google Ads remarketing tag, no TikTok pixel and no LinkedIn Insight Tag on any page, and nothing here builds a profile of you for advertising.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to count page views, so we know which counties people are looking for and which pages are failing them. It sets these cookies:

_gaDistinguishes one browser from another so a returning visit is not counted as a new one. Expires after two years.

_ga_G-84LEG3SYZ8Holds the state of the current session. Expires after two years.

Two settings are deliberately turned off. Google Signals and ad personalisation are both disabled, which means nothing you do here is fed into Google’s advertising graph or used to target advertising to you anywhere. IP addresses are anonymised. We use the analytics to understand pages, not people, and this site is not linked to any Google Ads account.

If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics everywhere, and any tracker blocker will also stop it.

What is stored in your browser

One thing, and it never leaves your device:

lung-themeLocal storage, not a cookie. Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme, so the site does not flash the wrong one on every page. Set only if you use the theme toggle, removed if you set it back to Auto, and readable only by this site.

Clearing your browser’s site data removes it. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.

What the county search does

The county lookup on the homepage downloads a list of counties once and then matches what you type in your browser. Nothing you type into it is sent to us, logged, or stored. That is deliberate: what county someone searches for is exactly the kind of signal this site has decided not to hold.

Newsletter and quote forms

If you subscribe to the newsletter or request contractor quotes, you are giving us that information deliberately, and what happens to it is described in the privacy commitment. Neither sets a cookie.
